Twilight

Note 0

For many of you, and that many being well over 1 million of you bought, read and cherished what is Twilight. Yes, I am assuming that most of you are already nail biting the return of New Moon that drops in theaters tomorrow. I will admit I am not one of those people, but just like I wasn’t a Star Wars or Star Trek person either, I can still appreciate your excitement about having something important in your life within your reach. Sorta like I am with getting my wallpaper hung in my office.

So to all you Twilight-ers, I hope the movie is all that you wished it would be. I hope you have picked team Edward or Jacob. And I hope you have many many goodies to celebrate afterward and into your weekend. Below are some of my favorites. So here’s to you!

Martha Stewart Rugs

Last weekend I was fortune enough to have my father help us out with putting the baseboard molding into our office. This is a big step forward since we have been with out any molding in our house for quite some time. But being the plan ahead type of person I am, I have started looking into rugs for this inspiring little space. I’ve skimmed over OverStock, West Elm and yes of course Pottery Barn. But I have ended up falling in love with Martha Stewart’s Rugs. Her use of subtle patterns and textures is a powerful but not over bearing way to bring some much needed life into any room. How are you going to cover your space? Pretty sure mine is going to have Martha Stewart’s name on it.

Sycamore Street Press { Part 2 }

Note 1

MeryyPoet+Sycamore Street Press+5

Monday mornings always come with far to much hast, leaving my busy weekend in the past. This weekend, however, I was fortunate enough to participate in Sycamore Street Press Workshop. Perhaps it was just being in Heber City, Utah that day or just because it was sorta the first official snow of the year, but regardless there was something magical in the air. A great anticipation to spend the afternoon with a great studio, great people & great fun.

I arrived a bit early to be happily greeted by both Eva and her husband Kirk who were FANTASTIC teachers. They were fun, enthusiastic and filled the class with knowledge and life. They started with the basic low-down on Letterpress, (which if you don’t know anything about Letterpress I highly recommend giving them a ring.) Shortly after everyone got the gist of the process and there were no questions…we dove right in. Pairs of two were working on the press while the rest of us made envelope liners for our cards. Time flew by, and it was nice to mingle with the other Letterpress-ers in the class. Especially when you find out one of the girls grew up where I went to collage back east, and the other one knows one of the VP’s at my current job. Really, who would have thought?!

Next came my partner and I’s turn ( Thanks Amanda! ) to letterpress our cards. I admit, I was a bit nervous since I have never been on the actual press side of the design world. Let me clarify, I have never been the one that had control over the press for my own or anyone else designs. This was a new step! And frankly I was like, Bring it on! Kirk was great at reassuring me I wasn’t going to break there press, and before I knew it my 50 cards were done and I proudly checked “Letterpress Anything” off my to do list.

So in the end I walked away happy, fulfilled & excited to call on Sycamore Street Press to help me out with some of my own design ideas. It was a wonderful time, one I would recommend to ANYONE who is adventurous enough to learn, do and meet some great new people! Special thanks to Eva and Kirk for being wonderful teachers and giving us all a magical time!

Holden Pet Bunk Dog Bed

Note 0

{ Holden Pet Bunk Dog Bed

My love for dogs was not a feeling that I have had all my life. Truth be told I was deathly afraid of them when I was younger to the point of full on tears when any dog would come around me. Of course this was because of a incident when I was about 5 years old that involved a black lab bigger than I chasing me down the beach. To my parents surprise, when I decided I wanted a dog I came home with my very own big black lab. And to this day I will not own a dog that isn’t black. They have a dear place in my heart that I will hold and cherish forever.

My streak of black dogs continues on with our current addition, Poe. He is 150% ball of pure energy, smarts and always up to no good. I assure you he is always into something, everything and anything he can get a hold of. He keeps me on my toes and demands my attention whenever I am around. Lately he has been having some bad itching problems, so my mom took him to the vet today. Thankfully there wasn’t anything major wrong… just some allergies. Which brings me to the point I wanted to make. This dog, this Poe dog is exactly like me. I mean, even my husband and parents recognize it. It’s like Danielle in dog form. Which I never thought really possible.

So just like me, when I get back from the Doctors.. I think it only fair that I get a gift. So why wouldn’t Poe get one. He has successfully ruined more dog beds than I can count, and naturally we are back in the market for a new one. Holden Pet Bunk caught my eye. Clean lines, wonderful use of materials and just over all looks smooth. I am sure Poe would chew right threw it in no time turning this fresh little modern bunk into a heap of sawdust. Non the less.. I can dream for the day when he won’t destroy his dog bed and add this to his @twisht list.

Happy (snowy, in my case) weekend to everyone! I am blogging from Heber City, Utah today the happy home of Sycamore Street Press. I am attending a letterpress class to make some holiday Christmas cards for all of my favorite people. This should be a GREAT chance to freshen up on all my printing skills, since for the past 3 years I have been working primarily in a Web/UI atmosphere. Hopefully I will come back covered in ink and completely fulfilled, at least for today, for my design fix.

Look forward for some updates, photos & just over all feedback from my exciting letterpress adventure. More to come…

Food Food & Food! I am always on the look out for new and GOOD places to eat. I love food! It is on my top 3 list of things to spend my time on. ( And yes, this means I will not buy apps for my iPhone because I would rather eat, sleep or basically ANYTHING else in the world! ) Small tangent there, my apologies.

Recap… I love to eat. And I am looking forward to trying this place out for date night with my husband. The atmosphere looks heavenly, the food amazing and I cannot help but even admire a logo that actually WORKS! So for all you other date night-ers out there. Grab your loved one, or even soon to be “loved one” and go eat some yummy food!

BAGGU

Note 0

{ BAGGU

Many days after work my husband and I head to some local grocery stores to pick up some odds and ends. Lately during these week day runs I have noticed the lack of plastic bags being used. This of course was a joyful moment in my life because it brought back to my attention of wonderful use of BAGGU bags. These darling little items can be used for everyday use or to help accessories a bathing suit while heading to the beach. I would like to think that my real motive behind buying these bags is to help “save the environment” but truth be told I am a sucker for color in masses. Specifically when they works so well in gradient form. So whatever your fancy may be, saving the world, matching a outfit of just having a love for something new. Go out and buy your self some handy BAGGU.

ps. Wouldn’t this look lovely as a wallpaper?
