For the past 4 years I have called Utah my home. I wake up every morning to a warm hug of Utah Mountains that surround my home. I can enjoy spending the cool summer evenings with my husband and dog gazing over the vast glittering lake until night falls and I am captivated by the starry sky until the wee hours of the night. However, I often find myself day dreaming back to my home on the east coast wishing I could touch and hold so many of the places and things I miss. One of those would be the rich architecture. Just like an heirloom caught in space and time with it’s lines, color and texture.. this to on many occasions has left me breathless. Secretly I hope my husband will come home one day and say he bought me a home in Georgetown and I have no choice but to suck it up and decide how I am going to re-decorate it. Of course If it were up to me, I would have a handful of houses around the world that encompass all sorts of styles and designs tastes, but hey who am I again? ( laughs )
Today is the day I reminisce about East Coast style and hope that somehow I am able to bring a bit of it back into my own Utah home.

Here’s to a day of not knowing what color I am. I thought Clementine Art was the perfect gift to help me find out. They are a wonderful selection of high quality non-toxic and environmentally friendly items that just make days like these seem a little bit brighter.
What shade are you?

I to often find myself caught up in “playing life”. Going through the motions of what needs to done so mechanically that I am positive everyday joys and pleasure are to getting missed. This is not something I am proud of and I often find myself day dreaming of the many things I would love to be doing. Which of course forces me to questions what exactly am I doing with my life/time. I want so badly to wake up and design for Merry Poet, design for me all day. Being able to create designs that makes a difference, make an impact. But I cannot make the leap.
I find confront in the now, in the knowing and control that I do have. And I plan to hang onto that for as long as I can, until that control eats away at me enough to force me to change. Which will only lead me to the same familiar place I have found myself every two years: my fork in the road.
What does the future hold for Merry Poet? What does the future hold for me? Time will only tell. So I’m going to stick on some “Placbeo – Running up the Hill”, zone out from the day and wait for the dust to settle.
As of late I have been enjoying the updated “themed birthday party” ideas that have been making a hugh splash around the world wide web. Not having any children of my own, and feeling that throwing some sort of birthday celebration for my dog would just be even to weird for me, I simply catalog the ones I like and save them for a later date. Then again, let’s be honest.. when you see a Harry Potter themed party it is hard to not stop and try to make this idea some how work into your everyday life. I’m thinking perhaps a Harry Potter Thanksgiving this year, yes? ( Ok, clearly that won’t work but was worth a shot )
Thanks to Jennifer Sbranti best known as The Hostess With The Mostess, for teaming up with iVillage for 12 Easy Ideas for a Wizard-Worthy Harry Potter Birthday Party. Among the blogging community there are a few spot lighters who stand out of the crowd for one reason or the other. Dooce, The Pioneer Woman, NieNie are some of the top “Mom” blogs that come to my mind first. I admit, they are on my “check every once in a while” rss feed list and have been known to give me a laugh or two. Especially Dooce’s dog photos, I just love those guys. ( laughs )
But today I am calling some attention to a blog from Andrea Merriman that I am confident my co-worker described better than I could have: “If the effects of a ponzi scheme on an average Utah family sound of interest, you may want to take a look into the life of this now divorced, single mother whose ex-husband faces federal prison time to pay for his crimes. Betrayal, prison, crime, divorce, single parenting, and wondering how to survive the next day; are just a few of the discussions addressed in this cannon of the life, misfortunes and triumph of Andrea Merriam’s family and life.”
Who knows, it might just tickle your fancy.
Ps. This whole “The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society” audio book things isn’t working out. I am over half way through and there isn’t a chance I am going to sit through the rest of it. There for, you have been vetoed. Next book please.
I love pomegranates, so this will come as no surprise when I say I am in love with this collection from lostbirdfound.com. Even though the color is not an exact match ( thanks for pointing that out mom, lol ) I still am convinced I need a new upgrade for my pocket bag.
Happy Friday – I’m going to enjoy some good weather and some yard work.

This weekend was spent in pj’s enjoying what was the LDS Conference. Great talks, wonderful speakers & enjoyable company. That is aside from my dog whom insisted on having my arm pet him the entire time. It was a few days of reflection and thought, and even perhaps some time to decide on making some changes and goals for the next few whiles.
I hope everyone had a happy Easter and enjoyed time with family and friends. I’ll leave you with some candy delights that of course is a added bouns around this time of year.

New work from Studio Output:
“Pandora Bell is an artisan confectionery brand from the West of Ireland, practising under the philosophy that a high quality daily treat is healthier – and more satisfying – than a mouthful of artificial flavourings. We were asked to create branding and packaging to give their mouth-watering products the sophisticated presence they deserve. The resulting designs take inspiration from vintage food packaging and labels, giving them a contemporary twist through the use of different production techniques for the graphic components. The logotype, silhouette and patterns are used in varying degrees across the packaging, and executed in a range of finishes from foil to screenprinting.”

For most of our married life, and yes even now, the Mr. and I have no had cable in our home. I have a handful of TV shows that I enjoy, and all of them I can either find on Netflix or free via streaming. I felt as if I was a superior force that was untouchable but found how quickly I was humbled due to channels like BBC and National Geographic. I am confident that I have watched all that Netflix and NatGeo TV online has to offer me and I am still left with a hunger. I was beginning to cope with this new way of life when the Mr. sent me these amazing wildlife photos from Greg du Toit. He was so determined to capture the perfect image of wild lions drinking that he sat submerged in their watering hole for three months. Let me say that again, THREE MONTHS IN A WATERING HOLE! People, I cannot even sit in the bathtub for more than 1/2 an hour without thinking I’m going to die.
Regardless, these shots are amazing and have me crawling back to my local cable provider begging for NatGeo to be in my home. I cannot believe this broke me.
Hi my name is Danielle. I’m addicted to NatGeo. It’s been 14 seconds since my last relapse.
